FLAMENCO NIGHTS @ GALERIA WEST: Special Guest Flamenco Artists NAZARET REYES & DIEGO AMADOR JR. & COMPANY
The popular monthly FLAMENCO NIGHTS @ GALERIA WEST concert series returns on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 7:30pm to the Galeria West Art & Music Gallery, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield, NJ. Come join with internationally acclaimed flamenco dancer Nazaret Reyes and Latin Grammy nominated singer/percussionist Diego Amador Jr. direct from Spain. They are joined by accomplished flamenco guitarist Pedro Cortes and in-demand violinist Alí Bello for a special and authentic concert event featuring Flamenco Puro music & dance plus traditional music favorites from Spain in celebration of the Holiday season.
Nazaret Reyes is a rising star of flamenco. Born in Sevilla to dancers Cristobal Reyes and Juana Amaya, she has been dancing since childhood. When she was only 11, she danced at the prestigious Bienal del Arte Flamenco de Sevilla alongside her mother and dancer Rafael Amargo in a production directed by Pilar Tábora at the Lope de Vega theater. Since that time she has danced all over Spain as well as in the US, Japan and France.
Diego Amador Jr. from Sevilla in Spain was born into flamenco royalty. His father is the celebrated flamenco pianist Diego Amador and his uncles are Rafael and Raimundo Amador (Pata Negra). From a very young age he began performing and touring with some of Spains top flamenco artists, including Remedios Amaya, La Susi, Lole Montoya, Farruquito and Joaquín Cortés. Known mainly as a percussionist, he also sings, plays guitar and piano and recently launched a solo project as a singer/songwriter, with the track Y me siento tan bien.
Teatro Sí brings to audiences this evening of passionate flamenco performance. The experience reveals the pure emotional essence of this popular Iberian music and dance form. The performers celebrate the expressive flamenco as it takes on a new character and exposes the audience to the warmth of the human spirit as expressed through music and dance. The body movements and facial expressions of the dancer join with the artistry of the musicians and singer to create a spectacle that is a treat for both the eye and the soul. Come experience an evening of Spanish gypsy culture with the cast of this captivating music and dance celebration!
