Bengali Gala 2019

Join Jamal Rahman and his family on for the Bengali Gala 2019, on Saturday, November 9th 2019 at the Seattle First Baptist Church to celebrate our tremendous success this past year at the Suraiya Ataur Medical Clinic (SAMC) in the village of Chondipur, Bangladesh. Our annual dinner is being catered by Tikka Masala, serving delicious, authentic South Asian cuisine, including Chai Tea, coffee and desserts. There will be live musical entertainment and Bollywood dancing for all to enjoy and participate in. All proceeds from the dinner support the SAMC clinic in Bangladesh. Free child care for children ages 10 and under. Parking is $5 in the lot next to the Seattle First Baptist Church. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Dinner and door prizes begin promptly at 6:00. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

The village of Chondipur, Bangladesh is the ancestral village of Imam Jamal Rahman (Imam of Interfaith Community Sanctuary and the Interfaith Amigos), and his brother Kamal, and sister Dr. Aysu Rahman. With the continued support of our friends and family members, we have established a medical clinic for women and children in this remote village of Northern Bangladesh. Besides keeping the clinic open 4 days a week, hiring a new doctor, and serving over 800 patients a month this past year, thanks to your generous donations, we also awarded our first 4-year nursing scholarship to Taslima Khatoon, a female student from a neighboring village who aspires to earn her nursing degree. Eventually, she wants to work with us and mentor other students like her, who strive to earn higher education.
