Power to the Pedals: Film + Panel on the Mighty, Mighty Freight Trike
UPDATE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED TILL FURTHER NOTICE.
Bob Nesson's recently released documentary, "Power to the Pedals: Wenzday Jane and the Culture of Change," follows Metro Pedal Power founder and owner Wenzday Jane as she tends her fleet of freight trikes and bikes, the community she's built around cycling in the Boston area, and her pioneering delivery business. Whether she and her team are rounding up food waste for compost, kicking the butt of a gas-guzzling truck at hauling the City of Cambridge's recyclables, or delivering boxes of farm food to the doors of CSA customers, they're always weighing how their work affects their partner enterprises, their fellow citizens, and the people doing the pedaling. Meanwhile, they're turning rot into soil and problems into solutions.
What does Wenzday's story mean for New York City, now and in the future? After the screening, we'll hear from a range of NYC businesses and non-profits that incorporate freight trikes into their operations, and get up to speed on the latest research. Plus we'll open the floor for your questions and observations.
Light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $10 through 10/24, $15 thereafter.
