Flute for Thought: a benefit recital to stand up for the battle against local childhood hunger
Professional local flutist Kassey Plaha and collaborative artist Hiroko Mizuno will present an afternoon recital on 5/31/14 to benefit the "Stand up for Kids" fund for the Second Harvest Food Bank.  

Mrs. Kassey Plaha is a National award winning soloist, Internationally award winning chamber musician and artist for Miyazawa Flutes.  She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from University of New Mexico and a Master of Music degree in flute performance from University of California at Santa Barbara, one of the top flute performance schools in the USA.  As a avid supporter of contemporary music, Ms. Plaha has been part of many commissions with living composers, given hundreds of world premiers and recorded several CDs-some of which can be heard on itunes with the Nationally acclaimed Areon Flutes.  Please visit www.kassey.com for full biography and concert schedule.  

Mrs. Hiroko Mizuno holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Japan's prestigious Toho Gakuen Conservatory.  She has performed with violinist Yoshio Unno, flutist Sir James Galway, Andreas Blau, Mika Enjo and Saxophonist Kenichiro Muto as well as the MHK Symphony Orchestra Wind Ensemble and Tokyo Harmonia Chamber Orchestra.  Mrs. Mizuno has also recorded several commercial CDs, performed on NHK-FM and NHK satellite broadcasting and former faculty of Conservatoire Shobi.  In addition to performing solo and chamber music recitals, Mrs. Mizuno also plays the harpsichord and Baroque music.  She is also the Collaborative Artist in Residence for the Areon Summer Flute Institute.
