L SHANKAR is widely considered a living legend and a musical genius by his peers. He has enthralled audiences and critics alike all over the world. A child prodigy who is a virtuoso vocalist with 5 1/2 octaves range, multi-instrumentalist, composer and record producer who has sold over 100 million albums through his solos and collaborations with other artists such as Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, John Waite, Stewart Copeland (The Police), Ginger Baker, Toto, Johnathon Davis (Korn), Natasha Bedingfield, Pat Monahan (Train), Randy Jackson (American Idol) and Patrick Leonard (Madonna) amongst others. His pop DVD, One In A Million, became the number 1 DVD spending 4 weeks on top of the U.S. Soundscan/Billboard charts. Shankar has also collaborated with Frank Zappa (who produced his solo record for Zappa Records), Talking Heads, Pete Townsend, Lou Reed, Marianne Faithful, Sting, Scott Page, Jeff Beck, U2, The Pretenders, Echo & The Bunnymen, John Lydon (Public Image Ltd.), George Harrison, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Dave Stewart, Jonathan Davis (Korn),Robert Trujillo (Metallica),Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction) and more.
Shankar worked on soundtracks including the Grammy award winning The Last Temptation of Christ. In 2004 Shankar, composed and performed vocals on Mel Gibsons The Passion of the Christ. Also a major part of the musical composition of the 2005 Oscar winning documentary, Born Into Brothels, Shankar co-produced a one-hour BBC film directed by award winning director H.O. Nazareth, nominated as one of the best documentaries at the Cannes Film Festival. His work has been featured in films like: Queen of The Damned, Ali, Jennifer 8, Robin Hood, Jacobs Ladder besides the NBC smash hit TV series Heroes.
CHITRAVINA N RAVIKIRAN, hailed as The Mozart of India (Wisconsin State Journal, USA & Belgium TV) made headlines as the worlds youngest prodigy at age two (in 1969) and presented vocal concerts from age five (1972) and Chitravina recitals since age 11. The youngest Indian musician to be awarded the highest A-Top grade by Indian National Radio & TV and numerous other awards, Ravikiran presented a record-setting non-stop recital for 24 hours in 1985. Acclaimed as The greatest slide player in the world (Radio Australia), An icon of Perfection (The Hindu) and An arresting virtuoso (Los Angeles Times), Ravikiran has enthralled listeners across the world in major festivals and venues and he has introduced Carnatic music in countries such as Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Brazil etc.
Ravikiran is the inventor of Melharmony, an award-winning approach to melding melody and harmony and his collaborators include Glen Velez, Taj Mahal, Dr Vyjayantimala Bali, Simon Phillips, Dr Balamuralikrishna, Pt Birju Maharaj and members of orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic. He Introduced Indian ragas & composers in several American and European schools through his Orchestral Compositions. As a composer, Ravikiran created a world record by setting to music the entire 1330 Tirukkural verses in only 16 hours in Jan 2016. Besides, he has composed over 800 original music-dance compositions in five languages including operatic productions like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Almighty Trinity & Cosmos. He has raised substantial funds for health, educational, cultural and disaster relief in various parts of the world and also initiated the Planet Symphony global environmental movement, which has over 2300 members from 65 countries (https://www.facebook.com/groups/planetsymphony/). Youngest (at 39) to win the President of Indias Award for artistic excellence, Ravikiran is one of the most decorated artists in the field with numerous other National, International & Cultural Awards across the world, including Citations & Proclamations from Cities of Houston & Tulsa, Madison & Middleton, USA.
