Nonsense Mouth will be screened on December 2nd, 2018 at Secret Location in DTLA featuring a live performance installation by director Anjela Vega. Nonsense Mouth is a surreal heroines journey in six chapters created by an all-female video production team.
Celebrating the madwoman in her many forms, "Nonsense Mouth" is inspired by female pioneers in the avant-garde such as Frida Kahlo, Meredith Monk, and Maya Deren. Nonsense Mouth is a personal rite of passage for Warkentine; it explores the dilemma of living as a complex human in a world with a limited imagination of what a woman can be.
The album release event will include a museum featuring the contour drawings of Rachel Gibas and a montage honoring women of the avant-garde. The evening will feature a performance installation of the album reimagined by director Anjela Vega at 7pm, followed by a screening of the full visual album at 7:30pm, and a reception in the space at 8pm.
Warkentine is an Ovation-award winning composer with the LA-based junkyard opera company Four Larks, and was co-creator and composer of absurd cat meme opera, LOLPERA. She has contributed music to productions at Sacred Fools, UCLA, UCB, The Garage Theatre, Postmortem Burlesque, and RIOTstage. Warkentines style of theatrical art-pop is inspired by Bjork, Kate Bush, and My Brightest Diamond.
The music for Nonsense Mouth was produced at Big Ego Studios in Long Beach by Chris Schlarb. The full album and videos of Nonsense Mouth will be released December 2, 2018, with new Long Beach music label Monte Bre Records.
The production crew includes: Director, Anjela Vega, Art Designer, Danielle Kaufman, Director of Photography, Dana Fytelson, Gaffer, Lisa Tom, Editor, Jacyln Chessen, and Costume Designer, Mieko Romming.
