"Where I'm From" is a project of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and is an extension of the J-School's mission to develop new programming and new audiences by creating journalism with ethnically and socioeconomically diverse perspectives.
The show is inspired by the work of the late ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax who famously said, "The dimension of cultural equity needs to be added to the humane continuum of liberty, freedom of speech, religion, and social justice."
