the loneliest part of here is now
"the loneliest part of here is now" is a live performance and dance film experience which explores the dichotomic nature of desire for human connection and an endless struggle with self. It is a biomythographical assortment of abstracted memories embodied by a collection of women - connected yet alone. Through a synthesizing of our own lived histories to the greater collective memory, and a deconstruction of the collective memory to manifest story as individuals, it is now is a magical reinvention and retelling of the self through connectivity with others.
In fall 2017, the film portion of "the loneliest part of here is now" premiered in San Diego at 40 North Dance Film Festival in an immersive format. Over the last six months, the live performance component of "the loneliest part of here is now" has taken shape in the form of three new solos. These new dances were presented in early 2018 in Peru and Mexico, and now the full work is coming to White Box Live Arts for the San Diego debut of an integrated live performance and film installment.
Accompanied by a live music performance by Geminelle, the evening is a celebration of the 2-year process of creating "the loneliest part of here is now".
