**Osibisa:
(The original superstars of African music!!!!)

ONSTAGE 9PM

Formed in London in 1969 by three Ghanaian and three Caribbean musicians, Osibisa played a central role in developing an awareness of African music among European and North American audiences in the 70s.

In Ghana in the 1950s, Teddy Osei (saxophone), Sol Amarfio (drums), Mamon Shareef and Farhan Freere (flute) played in a highlife band called The Star Gazers. They left to form The Comets, with Osei's brother Mac Tontoh on trumpet, and scored a hit in West Africa with their 1958 song "Pete Pete." In 1962 Osei moved to London to study music on a scholarship from the Ghanaian government. In 1964 he formed Cat's Paw, an early "world music" band that combined highlife, rock and soul. In 1969 he persuaded Amarfio and Tontoh to join him in London, and Osibisa was born.

The name Osibisa was described by the band members as meaning "criss cross rhythms that explode with happiness" but it actually comes from "osibisaba" the Fante word for highlife. Their style influenced many of the emerging African musicians over the last forty plus years.

**K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade
(Epic Afrofusion from the full live 9 piece band!)

Fronted by the brilliant K.O.G, this 9 piece brings you incredible west African rhythms and then some! This musical whirlwind deliver infectious West African vibes from Ghana via Sheffield, with diverse origins conflating to whip up their signature heady brew of afrobeat, soul, funk and reggae otherwise dubbed Afro-fusion.

Under the benign and inspiring leadership of K.O.G. - the Ghanaian force of nature - on vocals and steel pan, K.O.G. and the Zongo Brigade showcase the traditional Ghanaian elements of their sound while leaving plenty of room for powerful doses of highlife, hiphop, afrobeat and funk. Get ready to dance!

**Seddik Zebiri & The Seeds Of Creation
(Authentic North African Fusion)

Seeds of Creation is a fusion of different music genres - jazz, Berber, Afroblues and more! Though conceived in Dalston, they are a completely multicultural band with Greek, Italian, French and English musicians, that have contributed to the richness and diversity of its music.

The band is led by the unforgettable Seddik Zebiri. Born in Algeria in the Atlas moutains, Seddik arrived in France in 1965 and was involved in the North African Scene as a percussionist. In 1975, he moved to the UK where he explored jazz, funk and West African music, and travelled to Egypt where he learned Middle Eastern classical music too.
