Nigunim -- wordless vocal melodies of the Hasidim meant to induce spiritual and ecstatic states and express communal joy -- are the musical DNA of much Yiddish and klezmer music. Led by Lorin Sklamberg of the Klezmatics and composer/vocalist Polina Shepherd -- who have delved into the roots of this music and incorporate it into their own work -- this workshop explores these melodies and will get everyone singingand perhaps even induce a spiritual, pre-Shabbos high.
