Que Quema La Sangre: Flamenco Peña with Naike Ponce and Guests
Join us for an extremely special evening as international guest artist Naike Ponce sings in her first Canadian appearance. This intimate peña-inspired gathering will be a rare opportunity to gather in true flamenco fashion and celebrate the cante. With the guitar of Gareth Owen, baile of Kasandra La China, and percussive art of Davide Sampaolo, the star alignment is complete. Perhaps, just perhaps, duende will visit us. But...how will you know if you aren't there?
$5 glasses of wine Inspiration = free
Door sales go to the artists, all cash liquor sales go to support the cost of bringing Naike to Vancouver.
More: This event also launches 1780 Vernon Drive as a Vancouver peña! A peña is a gathering place for artists and musicians in Spanish-speaking places all over the world, "a cheap, popular venue where folk music is played and simple food and drink are available". In Spain, it is a late-night flamenco club, differing from the tablao circuit. Come out for this unique cultural experience!
