FILIBUS follows the exploits of a cross-dressing futuristic female sky pirate who pounces on her prey from a zeppelin manned by a crew of loyal henchmen. Absolutely mesmerizing, the perfect amalgam of early cinemas planar styles of mise-en-scène, delicate color palettes, and themes of crime and deception. And of course the figure of Filibus, the arch-criminal aviatrix, seems ready-made for queer appropriation.
