The Vallejo Choral Society was founded in 1917 as the Vallejo
Municipal Chorus by Frederick G. Scheller, the first director. The
group performed with the San Francisco Municipal Orchestra. In
1931, the ensemble was renamed Vallejo Choral Society by then
director, Kenneth R. Dick, and today performs a versatile repertoire
of music spanning from classical to musical theater.
A Vallejo Times-Herald reviewer described the chorus as a talented
and obviously dedicated group of musicians who performed with
admirable dignity and warmth. An audience member wrote: The
concert was terrificstrength to my bones and a lift to my spirit.
