Summers on the Oregon coast seem to fly by faster and faster. Who has the time to remember special events and trips? If you havent had an opportunity to attend the Cottage Tour this is the year! The Cottage Tour is the annual fundraiser for the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum. Tickets can be purchased on their website or by phone.
The Cannon Beach Cottage Tour is a weekend-long series of events including live music, wine tasting, tea tasting, and of course, a tour of homes that takes place September 13-15, 2019. For over a decade the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum has welcomed visitors from all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond to tour vintage homes, historic inns, and architectural wonders of your favorite coastal town. Over the years the tour has received accolades from Oregon Home Magazine, Sunset Magazine, The Oregonian, Seattle Times, Oregon Coast Magazine, among others.
Not many home tours take place with the Pacific Ocean in view. Cannon Beach has been a destination community since the late 1800s. The August 1891 issue of the The Daily Astorian declared the settlement a sportsmans paradise - ideal for rest and recuperation. It is still alluring for its seaside location and its unequivocal charm.
The weekend of events will kick off on Friday, September 13 with a jazz concert featuring Dmitri Matheny. Dmitri Matheny is a jazz treasure. The lyrical Matheny has impressive chops, but its his warmth and soulfulness that win you over. All Music Guide. Tickets to this event are $20. On Saturday, September 14, the series of events begins with a luncheon and lecture at Tolovana Hall. A conversation about the evolutions of cottages in Cannon Beach will begin at noon with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. Janet Eastman of The Oregonian will guide us through a conversation on how homes and cottages at the coast have changed over the years. The coasts premiere caterer and bakery, Dough Dough Bakery, will prepare the luncheon. Luncheon and lecture tickets are $30.
The tour of homes will take place in the Presidential Streets of Cannon Beach and go from noon until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14. Enjoy wine tasting with Cannon Beach Wine Shack at one of the locations on the tour, live music, and tea from Beach House Teas at another featured home. Take off those walking shoes and put on some dancing shoes for the Julie Amici concert at the museum on Saturday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets to the Tour and the concert are $40.
The final event of the weekend is an English style garden tea at the Tolovana Hall on Sunday, September 15. Attendees will enjoy English style tea with real teacups and saucers and tea from Beach House Teas. The presentation this year will be given by Master Gardener Jennifer Bell on how to plant with indigenous plants. Scones, cucumber sandwiches and other delectable treats prepared by Dough Dough Bakery will be sitting on beautiful china displays at each table. Tickets are $25.
