The Blue Bayou Band brings back songs from the catalogue which launched Linda Ronstadt into music history and became etched into our memories. Mary Newland and musical director Richard Baker have assembled a top-flight band of musicians to bring this show to audiences who long to revisit a great era in music.
Along the way, they also hope to bring a new experience to some who may not have known these great songs. An experience which will undoubtedly stay with them for some time to come.
In addition to performing as a lead vocalist, Mary Newland enjoyed a long career as a well-known back vocalist for major label recording artists The Beach Boys, Saga, Charo, Beth Hart, and many more.
A longtime desire to pay tribute to Linda Ronstadt, who inspired Mary early in her career, is the genesis for the Blue Bayou Band, a concert band that performs under the musical direction of Richard Baker.
Richard Baker was an original band member with music icon Gino Vannelli, and a band member with Gary Wright, and Santana. He has written, co-produced, and performed on over 100 gold and platinum albums and also composes original musical scores for TV and film. Richard is the music director of the Blue Bayou Band.
