FluteFling Edinburgh 2024 All-day Workshops
FluteFling celebrates a 10th anniversary in Newhaven, Edinburgh 19-21 April, with workshops for flutes and whistles taking place on Saturday 20th April, and sessions all weekend. Workshop tickets automatically allow access to the private Saturday session.

This year's tutors are Calum Stewart, Sharon Newton Creasey and Dougie Pincock.

Take part in the traditional flute and whistle revival in Scotland and be involved in sessions, workshops, talks, performances and more. This is a great opportunity for musicians to experience different styles and approaches to learning and performing traditional music on flutes and whistles in this much-anticipated event.

General sale Tickets: £72/ £48
Tickets on the door: £85 / £55

------

Whistlers should be playing whistles or low whistles in D and be beyond the complete beginner stage. There will also be space for Beginner flute players with 1-3 years experience as well as those with more than 3 years experience. These are rough guides only, please get in touch if you are not sure.

The workshop is open to Boehm system (metal, classical) musicians and those playing simple system wooden flutes (keyed or unkeyed) alike. This is an opportunity to explore and develop your playing in the context of Scottish traditional music, whichever instrument you play.

Topics covered will include:
-different playing styles
-tune types
-technique
-breathing, phrasing and tone improvement
-history
