Adam Meckler / Brian Courage / Andrew Green LIVE Open Recording
Adam Meckler (trumpet), Brian Courage (bass), and Andrew Green (drums) met as students at Lawrence University in the early 2000s. More than a decade later, just before the 2020 global pandemic, they started a band and played some shows. Sparks flew. Now, they're back at it playing a mix of original music, and deconstructed jazz standards. Music that is both beautiful and wild, explorative and introspective.
They will get together on Wednesday, December 15th for a one-time-only special live recording and filming event. There will be a limited in-person audience allowed (*proof of vaccination will be required for entry*).
We will not be accepting cash at the door. You must purchase ticket via Brown Paper Tickets to attend the event.

Performing Artist and Clinician. He leads The Adam Meckler Orchestra (AMO), an 18 piece big band that plays his original compositions. The AMO's debut album 'When the Clouds Look Like This' was listed among 2014's Best Jazz Releases by iTunes. Adam tours and records with The Hornheads (Cory Wong, Dave Koz), Youngblood Brass Band, and Nooky Jones. His latest release with The Adam Meckler Orchestra, Music for the Water Walkway, is available on all streaming platforms now.
Brian Courage: Originally from Long Island, NY, bassist Brian Courage has spent most of the last decade as an integral part of the creative music scenes in Minneapolis, Brooklyn, and now Chicago, where he currently resides. He has performed alongside a wide variety of nationally acclaimed jazz artists, including Greg Ward, Lew Tabackin, David Hazeltine, Michael Lewis, John Raymond, Walter Smith III, Russ Johnson, JT Bates, and Billy Mintz. Brian is adept at a wide range of styles, equally as comfortable performing with the Minnesota Orchestra as with New York based Americana / blues rock band Hollis Brown, with whom he toured the US and Europe extensively.
Andrew Green: Andrew Green is a drummer, percussionist, and improviser based in Chicago, IL. With a background in a wide range of musical styles and genres, he contributes a unique approach and expansive sonic awareness to Chicagos creative music community. As one critic wrote, It really isnt fair to call him a drummer, as he exhibits a seeming inexhaustible range of wonderful effects (Greg Hettmansberger). Andrew can most often be found with indie jazz trio Twin Talk, co-lead with Dustin Laurenzi and Katie Ernst. The bands third album, Weaver (37d03d), was released in 2019 and was praised by PopMatters as inventive and exhilarating, artful but unpretentious, and refreshingly playful.
A sought after sideman and session musician, Andrew plays in a variety of bands including jazz groups led by Abigail Riccards, Paul Deitrich, Myles Hayes, and Carl Kennedy, as well as cross-genre bands like retro pop outfit Elle Casazza, Brazilian samba group Bloco Maximo, New Orleans second-line Big Shoulders Brass Band, and folk ensemble Jonas Friddle & the Majority. He has played drums and percussion for several genre-defying shows including The Fly Honey Show, The Grelley Duvall Show, and John Cicoras Mother and the Council. Andrews latest project, a new album by powerhouse rock vocalist and songwriter Bethany Thomas, will be released in 2020.
Andrew has performed across the US and around the world, including shows in Europe, Canada, and appearances at the Chicago Jazz Festival, Rochester Jazz Festival, Hyde Park Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
