Project Outline for IJD:  

Beginning Wednesday, April 29, 2020 the Skipp Pearson Jazz Legacy Foundation and its partners will launch the fourth installment of International Jazz Day in the USA. A celebration of jazz music honoring Women in Jazz will be offered through a full day of music education programs and special events.

The primary goal is to recognize the enormous contribution made by female musicians and vocalist to the world of Jazz music. The primary objective is to have burgeoning young players and established artists from different cultures to work together to present some of the best live jazz music available.



Pre-Event Activities:

Wednesday, April 29th beginning at noon seven female piano masters will present six sets of live music offering the best of America's Music from the turn of the 20th century to 1970. On the day of preparation for the celebration of International Jazz Day 2020 New Yorker's will have the opportunity to listen throughout the afternoon to Jazz music beginning with Ragtime and ending with the Soul/R&B. Each music set will have featured musicians and vocalist.

Piano Masters: Terry Harper of Atlanta Georgia, Tomoko Ohno of Tokyo, Japan, Daryl Sherman of Rhode Island (Ms. Sherman played Cole Porter's Steinway when it was at Grand Central Station in New York: In New York shes played Kitano Jazz, Knickerbocker, Algonquin Oak Room, Iridium, Dizzys Coca Cola and Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis  also a favorite at the Mabel Mercer Foundation Cabaret Convention, Highlights in Jazz and Bryant Park Piano series, Midtown Jazz at St Peters and JVC Jazzfest in NYC. Shes a 3-time MAC award winner and in 2015 was named Hothouse Magazine's "Best Jazz Vocalist", Janice Friedman, Jazz Times "Woman of the Year". Please note, there are three additional Piano Masters soon to be confirmed.
