Libby DeCamp at Manchester Underground
Out from the quiet orchards of Romeo, Michigan (a rural town 40 miles north of Detroit), Libby DeCamp has spent an adolescence in close companionship with bodies of music and literature, among hinterlands of horses and history. Driven by a will to connect on a raw, human level, Libby makes lyrically-edged folk and roots-steeped music, and delivers with a honeyed vocal closeness that reaches listeners of all kinds. The soundscape is captivating; innocently dark and laced with western, blues, ragtime, and early rock and roll muses. Born from fervent ties to both Old America and New America, DeCamps writing carries an unflinching intention to reflect the times with a poetic lens- from the seismic social and political turns, down to the resulting close-to-heart emotional nuance.
Speared by her debut six-song EP titled Cross Sections, released in March, 2016, (following four years writing and performing in various folk groups right out of high school) the 23-year old has rigorously performed both within her home state and broken into the national market with no time to waste, taking her show on the road extensively with the two-brother rhythm section, Adam and Brandon Schreiber of Jack & the Bear. Grammy award-winning producer Oz Fritz notes; The warm sound and seductive grooves of Cross Sections makes you want to listen, it draws the attention in Her work has been featured by TEDx, scored multiple placements on MTV hit shows, and continues to peak interest with spacial, provocative recordings and a profoundly direct live energy.
