On Saturday, May 16 and and Sunday, May 17, Kairos: A consort of Singers, under the direction of Edward Lundergan presents Henry Purcell's opera, "Dido and Aeneas", for its 25th anniversary! Dido and Aeneas recounts the love of Dido, Queen of Carthage, for the Trojan hero Aeneas, and her despair when he abandons her. A monumental work in Baroque opera, Dido and Aeneas is remembered as one of Purcell's foremost theatrical works. It was Purcell's only true opera, as well as his only all-sung dramatic work, and is one of the earliest known English operas.
The cast will include Maria Bedo as Dido, Kent Smith as Aeneas, Courtenay Budd as Belinda, and Allison Gish as the Sorceress. Kent Smith will stage direct, and the performance is conducted by Kairos Artistic Director Edward Lundergan. An event not to be missed!
Advance tickets are $20 general admission; $15 senior; and $5 student/youth until April 15, so be sure to order yours before ticket prices go up!
