Wilde Welt (Ages 8+ German Language Short Film Program)

This all-German language program is filled with stories of a wild world  an epic playground battle, messages fished from bottles floating in the sea, miracles performed by a learned man, and the story of a girl who cannot recognize her own face, until she draws it. All films are in German with English subtitles.

Dieses deutschsprachige Filmprogramm ist vollgepackt mit Geschichten einer wilden Welt  eine gewaltige Schlacht auf dem Spielplatz, eine Flaschenpost aus dem Meer, von einem Gelehrten vollbrachte Wunder sowie die Erzählung eines Mädchens, das ihr eigenes Gesicht so lange nicht erkennen kann bis sie es schließlich zeichnet. Alle Filme werden auf Deutsch mit englischen Untertiteln gezeigt.

A little boy who lives on the coast with his father has a lot of questions. But when his father cant find the right words to answer his son, he turns to the sea for help.

Ein kleiner Junge, der mit seinem Vater an der Küste lebt, hat viele Fragen. Sein Vater findet nicht die richtigen Worte, um seinem Sohn Antworten darauf zu geben und bittet schließlich das Meer um Hilfe.

For Carlotta, a girl with a rare condition of not being able to recognize any face, even her own, it is art that finally offers her a way to see herself.

Carlotta hat ein seltenes Defizit. Sie kann keine Gesichter erkennen, auch nicht ihr eigenes. Schließlich eröffnet ihr die Kunst den entscheidenden Zugang, sich endlich selbst zu erkennen.

Shaul and Ivan

In a small village, Shaul sings while Ivan dances happily around a table with other villagers  its a moment of happiness neither will forget soon.

In einem kleinen Dorf singt Shaul während Ivan glücklich mit den anderen Dorfbewohnern um den Tisch herum tanzt  es ist ein Moment des Glücks, den keiner so schnell vergessen wird.

Little Achilles

When 10-year-old Alex gets his bike stolen by the well-known bully, George, his father tries to give him perspective by telling him about the siege of Troy and the Greek hero Achilles. This all sparks a playground war that comes complete with flaming marshmallows and jello catapults.

Nachdem dem 10 Jahre alten Alex sein Fahrrad vom stadtbekannten Raufbold Georg gestohlen wird, versucht sein Vater ihn wieder aufzumuntern indem er ihm die Geschichte von der Belagerung Trojas und dem griechischen Helden Achill erzählt. Dies löst auf dem Spielplatz eine Schlacht mit gerösteten Marshmallow-Pfeilen und Wackelpudding-Schleudern aus.
