Integrating Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: A Journey to Belonging
This interactive workshop is intended to inspire new ways of thinking, cultivate an exchange of ideas, and allow you to share your experiences regarding shifting our organizational cultures to environments that create belonging. We will connect the dots and bridge the gap between a diverse workforce and one that is inclusive. Attendees will gain strategies and insights needed to mitigate bias, understand the impact of culture, explore best practices for achieving equity and diversity objectives and discover the links between diversity and organizational performance.
Many of our conversations around diversity and inclusion have us walking on eggshells or dont turn out as planned. We often make statements that are intended to be supportive or complementary but can be defined as micro-inequities or micro-aggressions. This session will provide a deeper understanding and a more productive way for addressing biases and these subtle acts of exclusion. Attendees will learn ways to structure I&D efforts so that it is a shared responsibility. Getting individual employees to work on inclusion every day is a real hurdle. Yet how your people interact, day in, day out, is what drives inclusion and belonging at your organization.
A native of North Carolina, Gracie Johnson-Lopez brings almost 30 years of a diverse business background to include human resources, operations and diversity. Currently, Gracie serves as President and senior consultant with her company, Diversity & HR Solutions. Most recently, she served for thirteen years as the Senior Vice President of HR and Administration in the insurance industry. Gracie was a professional diversity consultant, Human Resources Director for the School of Science and Mathematics and the Department of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention. She uses those experiences to address implicit bias, gender inequality and cultural diversity by speaking and training nationally. Although challenging, she forges ahead believing Whats within me is stronger than whats in my way.
Gracie Johnson-Lopez holds a Bachelor of Art Degree in Public Administration from NCCU and a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Duke University. In addition, she holds three professional certificates: Leadership from Dartmouths Tuck School of Business, Diversity & Inclusion from Pope & Associates and the SPHR from the Society of Human Resource Management. She is active in the community serving on various boards and committees to include:
