G6 Presents: I AM LOVE with Experimental Shorts

Giovanna Chesler returns to Suns Cinema with special guest KC Oden to present a night of steamy films including I AM LOVE, ALL MY LIFE, and MAXINE, BON APPETIT.

ABOUT G6 PICTURES:

Giovanna Chesler (they/them) directs documentary and narrative films addressing themes of the body, sexuality, and gender. Their films have been exhibited at hundreds of film festivals worldwide and in museums and gallery spaces including the Chicago International Film Festival, Outfest LA, Frameline San Francisco, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, and La Jolla Contemporary Art Museum. Giovanna is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Film and Video Studies Program at George Mason University, and affiliated faculty in Film and Media Studies and Women and Gender Studies at Mason. In 2019, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities awarded Giovanna a Fellowship in Media Arts.

ABOUT I AM LOVE: 120 MIN, 2009

I Am Love tells the story of the wealthy Recchi family, whose lives are undergoing sweeping changes. Eduardo Sr., the family patriarch, has decided to name a successor to the reins of his massive industrial company, and in so doing, surprises everyone by splitting power between his son Tancredi and grandson Edo. However, Edo dreams of opening a restaurant with his friend Antonio, a talented chef. At the heart of Tancredis family is his wife, Emma (Tilda Swinton), a Russian immigrant who has adopted the culture of Milan. An adoring and attentive mother, Emmas existence is shocked to the core when she falls deeply in love with Antonio and pursues a passionate love affair that will change his family forever.
