The Wiz - Youth Drama Theater of South Los Angeles
The Super Soul Musical. The Wiz, is a joyous modern retelling of L. Frank Baums classic childrens story, Wonderful Wizard of Oz, reflecting contemporary African-American culture. After Dorothy gets swept up in a tornado, she finds herself in the fantastical world of Oz. There, she makes new friends, battles evil witches, and seeks the aid of the all-powerful and mysterious Wiz. Ultimately, Dorothy finds that, if you believe with all your heart, you can always find your way home. With an infectious soul score, dynamic numbers, and endearing cast of characters, The Wiz is a joyous explosion of music, dance, magic, and heart to delight audience members of all ages.
Youth Drama Theater (YDT) is a 501(c)3 organization designed to to providing performance opportunities, introduce youth to different aspects of the creative industry, and provide a safe place where kids can participate in activities and lessons that develop creativity, confidence, and personal growth. We aim to influence their lifetime economic footprint by exploring and strengthening their natural talents and gifts providing a path to higher education and careers in the creative world.
