Opus One Big Band Concert/Dance/Auction for Westbrook Chamber Singers
Opus One is made up of top jazz performers from around the state who are also music educators. The group was founded more the 25 years ago by Dale Perkins, proprietor of Perkins Music House out of Skowhegan, as a way to introduce students to the joys of the Big Band Era while also providing fundraisers to support local school music programs.
They will be offering selections from the greats such as the Count Basie Band, The Tonight Show Big Band, Duke Ellington, as well as vocal favorites from Franks Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr. and Michael Bublé. Sit back and relax to listen or bring your dancin shoes to do the Shim Sham or Jitterbug.
Advance tickets ($10 adults $5 students) are available through the WHS Music Dept (FMI call 207-318-6637) and online through Bull Moose.
Tickets are also available at the door ($11 and $6). Donations are gratefully accepted with checks payable to Westbrook High School Music.
