This concert will feature original music by Kendrah Butler-Waters and Tonya Dorsey with an emphasis on the African American experience in music. They will explore different genres that will include our own arrangements. The categories will include jazz, classical, gospel, theatrical music and poetry.

Kendrah Butler-Waters  Kendrah, a 2015-2016 Kimmel Center Jazz Resident, is a classically and jazz trained pianist and composer. She holds a dual bachelors degree from Temple University in Political Science and Sociology with a minor in Spanish and a masters degree from Drexel University in Elementary Education. She is currently a contracted fourth grade teacher at Gotwals Elementary School in Norristown, Pa and performs regularly locally and abroad.

Tonya Dorsey, Founder/Board Chairman of Tonya Dorset and New Vision. A graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio, Tonya is an accomplished composer whose music has been performed at Juilliard. As the founder of Tonya Dorsey and New Vision, she believes that a child's exposure to the performing arts enhances their educational experience. Inspired by faith, she established the Tonya Dorsey New Vision scholarship program in 2008 to raise funds to support aspiring young artists.

Special Guest Performances by vocalist V. Shayne Frederick; bassist Nimrod Speaks, and the New Vision Choir.
