Nous is an ever evolving, ever rotating experimental music project centered upon a philosophy of impermanence and a commitment to explore composition and improvisation from endless vantage points. Nous was conceived by composer Christopher Bono (Ghost Against Ghost, Bardo) in 2014 and has included a remarkable community of contributing musicians in the avant-garde, contemporary classical and improvised music worlds. Each Nous installment centers around a different focal concept and a different cast of musicians leading to spontaneous and often exhilarating results.
The November 2018 Nous incarnation features Christopher on keyboards, vocals and electronics alongside Japanese bassist and composer Kato Hideki (John Zorn, Death Ambient, Green Zone) and Philadelphia based drummer Calvin Weston (Ornette Coleman, Vernon Reid, Marc Ribot).
The first of several upcoming Nous albums will be released on November 16, 2018 on Our Silent Canvas records on both digital and vinyl.
Ghost Pony is an experimental electro-acoustic project inspired by acid/spaghetti western films, country ballads, outer space, and alienation. Ghost Pony was born when Erica Mancini (accordion, accorgan, vocals, aerial accordion) was asked to perform in Chicagos Graceland Cemetery, alongside of Xiu Xiu and Lonnie Holley. Joined by composer and multi-instrumentalist Stephen LaRosa (guitar, synthesizers), the two created a ethereal yet energetic musical palate that draw together soundscapes of alienation and adventuremelodies inspired by Ennio Morricone scores, moody torch-light songs like the ones heard in David Lynch soundtracks, and electronic and experimental improvisational elements all come together to create a unique and original musical world. Ghost Pony is a New York-based band, and will be joined by special guest musicians for their performance.
