Album Release Show for Scott L. Miller's Raba featuring Estonia's Ensemble U:
Estonia's Ensemble U: celebrates the release of Scott L. Miller's Raba (New Focus Recordings).

Raba (which means bog in Estonian) is an immersive audio-visual concert piece inspired by the Marimetsa Raba, located about an hour drive from Tallinn. Scott L. Miller's Raba was created for Ensemble U:, and is experienced by the audience seated in swiveling chairs and wearing VR headsets. Audience members visually explore a 360 video while Ensemble U: performs the music in sync with the film. The ensemble and speakers physically surround the audience, unifying the audience experience with a live, immersive audio performance while each audience member has a unique immersive visual experience. In addition to Raba, Ensemble U: will premiere a new VR work by Estonian composer Tatjana Kozlova-Johannes, and present the NY premiere of Millers Accretion, also written for U:. VR headsets are limited, and therefore each performance will be limited to 20 audience members only.

Two shows, 7:00 and 8:30.

Ensemble U: is currently the most active and renowned contemporary music ensemble in Estonia. It has gained recognition for its ability to perform even the most demanding works without a conductor, openness for bold experimental ideas, and sensitivity for sound. Beyond Estonia, U: has performed in important international festivals like Time of Music (Viitasaari, Finland), VRHAM! (Hamburg, Germany), GAIDA (Vilnius, Lithuania), Sounds New (Canterbury, UK), Nordic Music Days (Helsinki, Finland), Nuova Consonanza (Rome, Italy), Third Practice (Richmond, USA) ,  Biennale di Musica Venezia (Italy), Virtuosi of XXI Century (Recife, Brasil), Dark Music Days (Iceland).

Scott L. Miller is a composer described as a true force on the avant-ambient scene (Classical-Modern Music Review). Best known for interactive electroacoustic chamber music and ecosystemic performance pieces, his recent work experiments with virtual reality applications in live concert settings. Raba is his latest album of audio visual (and VR) music, available on New Focus Recordings. Three time McKnight Composer Fellow and Past-President of the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the U.S., his work is frequently performed by soloists, ensembles, and festivals throughout North America and Europe. Recordings of his music are available on New Focus Recordings, Panoramic, Innova, Eroica, CRS, rarescale and SEAMUS, and his music is published by ACA (American Composers Alliance), Tetractys, and Jeanné.
