Ann Arbor Guitar Trio presents Josh Harlow's "Never a Rip"
Ypsilanti Freighthouse,  100 Market Place, Ypsilanti, MI 48198
Thursday August 30, 8:00 PM
Tickets $10 or $5 for Ypsilanti residents

On August 30th, local jazz group the Ann Arbor Guitar Trio will premiere Josh Harlow's Never a Rip"-- an exploration of consumerism and industry through the lens of the Ypsilanti Underwear Factory. The performance will be held at 8:00 PM at the historic Ypsilanti Freighthouse and will be supported in part through the University of Michigan School of Music Theatre & Dance Meta Weiser EXCEL Fund. This project is a collaboration between composer Josh Harlow and A2G3. Through poetry and improvised music, A2G3 and Harlow explore the forgotten history of the Ypsilanti Underwear Factory, a nationally known local business in operation around the turn of the 20th century. Specifically, they investigate an advertisement once on the factorys exterior featuring an attractive woman wearing a union suit that caused quite a stir upon its release, as well as some of the strange and sinister goings on surrounding the factory during the early 1900s. In addition to debuting Harlows composition for the group, this concert will feature A2G3's modern arrangements of popular music from the early 20th century. Doors open for Never a Rip at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10 / $5 for Ypsilanti residents. For more information on the Ypsilanti Freighthouse visit https://www.ypsilantifreighthouse.org.

The Ann Arbor Guitar Trio

The Ann Arbor Guitar Trio was founded on the idea that more guitar is better. Alex Anest formed the group with Evan Veasey and Adam Kahana in April 2016. All three musicians are talented, creative players who have been performing and recording in the Ann Arbor area for years. With three guitars, there are endless possibilities and the A2G3 looks to explore as many of them as they can. Improvisation, creative use of space, and the interesting harmonies achievable with so many strings are some of the ideas that A2G3 explores.
