Amici Lyric Opera presents Elena Yakoubovsky, lyric spinto soprano, at the Lafayette Library Community Hall in a performance of some of the most beautiful and beloved Russian lyric songs by Dargomizhsky, Glinka, Grechaninov, Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rubinstein, and Tchaikovsky. In the program are Rachmaninov's: In the Silence of the Nigth, Spring Waters, It's Fine Here, Tchaikovsky's None but the Lonely Know, In this Moonlit Night, Rubenstein's Night, and Grechaninov's She was yours, among others.
Elena Yakoubovsky, a lyric-spinto soprano, made her operatic debut in 2005 as Tatiana in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin. She has recently appeared as Lisa in Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades at West Bay Opera, Annina in La Traviatta with Capitol Opera, as Mimi in La Boheme, and as Micaela in Carmen, with Danville Lyric Opera. She was the featured soprano soloist in Mozart's Coronation Mass in C Major a St. Timothy's Concert Series in Danville.
A San Francisco Bay Area favorite, she has delighted audiences with her expressiveness and magnetic performances. Critics have called her performances: "compelling," "...subtly refine, with ardent passion...," and that "...her gentle voice gave hope, its sound ...melted the soul." Elena comes from a very musical family of Russian and Italian (Neapolitan!) singers and musicians. She came from her native Chile several years ago to pursue a career in classical voice. Miss Yakoubovsky graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Music, and is presently studying with Master Teacher David Jones.
