BRAINTREE FOLK PRESENTS
Cold Chocolate is a groovy Americana band that fuses bluegrass, folk and rock to create a sound all their own. With tight harmony and skillful musicianship, this Boston-based group is impressing audiences throughout New England and beyond.
Since their formation in 2011, Cold Chocolate has quickly gained recognition for their original songs and high-energy shows. The band has shared bills with Leftover Salmon and David Grisman, and regularly performs at venues and music festivals up and down the East Coast.
"Cold Chocolate plays a style of bluegrass that is so ridiculously good, that I really love Cold Chocolate. Singer and guitarist, Ethan Robbins has a depth and soul to his voice that blends certain aspects of soul and blues music into their traditionally instrumented sound, creating a unique quality that makes their music far more than a couple pickers playing Bill Monroe tunes. This is something special. High energy, excellent harmonies, and, of course, killer picking from the group makes Cold Chocolate an experience that you won't want to miss out on." Brian Carroll, Red Line Roots
Eric George opens the evening. Writing with the lyrical conviction of an early Dylan and singing with the graceful twang of an Appalachian balladeer, Eric George is a Vermont-based songwriter immersed in American folk music. With melodies and lyrics that stray off the beaten path, he sings with diligent rooted in tradition.
"Eric George is one of the smartest songwriters in the entire indie folk scene and nobody knows it. That isnt to say that nobody knows him or, at least by this point he should have the entire state of Vermont on his side, but he wraps his way around the intricacies of his arrangements so deftly that one wouldn't be mistaken, from a layman's perspective, to call his work simple.'" - Jonathan Frahm, For Folk's Sake
