An Afternoon with Lynn Harrell and Friends
World-renowned cellist Lynn Harrell presents a benefit concert for Elemental Strings Sunday, March 7 at 2 at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Monica. Called the Dean of American cellists by the Washington Post, Harrell's playing has been hailed as "bold, imaginative, and surpassingly sensitive...fully human and rich in detail."
Lynn Harrell gladly shares his art to attract support for Elemental Strings, an after-school youth orchestra for fourth and fifth grade students in the Santa Monica community. He will be joined by Helen Nightengale, violin, Brian Dembow, viola, and Victor Santiago Asuncion, piano, for the C minor piano quartet by Brahms. Music lovers from across Los Angeles will not want to miss the concert, which also includes Mr. Harrell performing solo pieces by Bach.
Patrons will have the opportunity to participate in an online auction, including private performances by some of LA's finest musicians. The website is www.biddingforgood.com/elementalstrings.
Following the concert, refreshments will be served.
