The Village of Peace Screening NYC
Come out to The Brownstone NYC for an evening documentary screening of THE VILLAGE OF PEACE, followed by a conversation with the the Director. Enjoy tasty snacks & beverages from Lost Tribe Brewery while watching the movie.
The film explores a community of African-Americans from Chicago, who in 1967 began a two-year migration to Dimona, Israel. The founders of the Village recount their epic journey from the backdrop of oppression and upheaval in Chicago, through the unfamiliar terrain of Liberia, to what they now call home in the Negev Desert. Approximately 300 people made the original migration. Today, over 3,000 African-Hebrew Israelites live in Israel.
Residing in the East Village of Manhattan, The Brownstone is a high-tech and eco-friendly building that combines the warmth of a private home and the sophistication of the New York City lifestyle. Comprised of charming exposed brick walls, the Brownstone's modern and stylish décor is representative of the downtown scene. Encompassing 6 floors, The Brownstone plays host to a myriad of events, ranging from cocktail parties and networking events.
