Twin Cities Women's Choir with Saakumu Dance Troupe
The Twin Cities Women's Choir welcomes the world-renowned traditional/contemporary dance and music troupe Saakumu from Ghana, West Africa to share the stage for a lively merging of cultures.
Led by master musician, Bernard Woma, Saakumu's repertoire includes a range of spiritual, ceremonial and recreational genres as well as contemporary African dance forms. Their performances are joyful, expressive, and highly participatory. In collaboration with Saakumu, the Twin Cities Women's Choir will present a varied repertoire focusing on the traditional use of music and dance in Africa and America as a means of teaching the values and ethics of a community.
