UnityJam Benefit Concert
UnityJam is a concert to benefit two non-profit organizations: Abraham's Vision is educating Muslim, Jewish, Palestinian, and Israeli communities towards inter- and intra-communal conflict transformation while the Salman & Samina Global Wellness Initiative is working to help Pakistan's 3 million impoverished IDP'ss (internally-displaced persons).
Abraham's Vision is a conflict transformation organization that explores group and individual identities through experiential and political education. Examining social relations between and within the Jewish, Muslim, Israeli, and Palestinian communities, AV empowers participants to practice just alternatives to the staus quo. AV's programs are making a consistent and long-term impact on these communities, in both the United States and beyond, creating new models for inter-communal interaction.
Salman & Samina Global Wellness Initiative is dedicated to the increased understanding, cooperation, and mutual enrichment of the world's cultures. Through music, media, and advocacy SSGWI is working to raise awareness on the plight of the Pakistani refugees. The Pakistani military is waging a battle against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in the Northern valley of Swat but the fierce fighting has drained an already impoverished citizenry. Some three million innocent people have fled their homes for safety, while many who remain in the valley suffer from lack of food, water or electricity. Within this fluid human drama, SSGWI calls on the international community to show solidarity with the people of Pakistan.
