The Furies at 21 Lounge Cleveland with The Burning River Ramblers!
Hailing from all over the country but converging in Boston, Massachusetts The Furies are a band apart. The all female group combines lyrical finesse with instrumental prowess, mixing catchy riffs and lush harmonies that draw from wide influences; Jeff Buckley, Regina Spektor and Led Zeppelin, to name a few. Not just a group of musicians, but a collaborative of songwriters, composers, and multi-instrumentalists, The Furies are carving out a name all their own and much like their namesake, they mean business.
Lead singer Lee Moretti is most noted for her time spent as Third Eye Blind's multi-instrumentalist and background vocalist. The Furies debut single, a remix of their song "Keep Away," was arranged, recorded and produced by Third Eye Blind's Stephan Jenkins, and features Third Eye Blind band members Brad Hargreaves and Abe Millet on drums and bass respectively. Their debut EP is slated for release in 2015.
"On a night when everything on stage was good, it took a tremendous push of energy to finish out on a high note, and the Furies didn't disappoint. The all-female band puts forward flat-out rock 'n' roll that both feels contemporary and blisters with hooks and propulsion (and notably a delightful inclusion of a cello on a couple of songs, which broke up the sound gorgeously). It was a powerhouse finish.."

Cleveland, Ohio, home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, has long been producing some of the best independent musical acts in the country. One of its latest products is THE BURNING RIVER RAMBLERS (BRR), a band that has hit the ground running in the year following its debut self-titled album release. Almost immediately following its release in August 2011, the Cleveland Plain Dealer named the band as a "top 25 Band to Watch". BRR has also raised eyebrows as the band quickly built a large and passionate fan base in Northeast Ohio (as well as Athens, Ohio where most of the members attend college) with its breezy, funky, all-around unique sound.
In February 2012, lead singer and songwriter, Conor Standish, won the grand prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest's Valentine's Day Love Song Contest for "Stranger on the Street", a track from BRR's debut album. As exciting as this is, the group has still greater songwriting aspirations. Conor and his fellow cast of Christopher Rush on bass, Owen Park on drums, Zach Catania on vocals and guitar, and Dave Young on keys are in the midst of writing material for their upcoming sophomore album.
BRR has also teamed up with the Suicide Prevention Education Alliance (SPEA) to help educate and increase awareness. Their song, "Redwood", was written in memory of a friend who took his life. As part of the alliance with the SPEA, a portion of the proceeds from CD sales, as well as 99 cents for every download of "Redwood" on iTunes, is being donated to the charity. Since suicide is the second leading cause of death in young people in Ohio, BRR wants to spread that word of prevention as they continue to tour regionally and beyond. You can check out a live performance of "Redwood" at www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMnWbGoU2h4.
