NYU Tisch graduate.

Samuel Grandchamp grew up in Geneva, raised by a photographer father and a dramaturge mother. He directs his first film in 2009, Le Grand Détournement Artamis, a short documentary which gets awarded by two prizes. He goes on to pursue a Bachelor in Macroeconomics at HEC Lausanne. His mindset still being captivated by his first cinematographic experience, Samuel makes a definitive move towards filmmaking, after graduating, by writing and directing a short narrative film, Distress. Samuel now lives in New York and is enrolled in the prestigious Graduate Film Program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. His latest short documentary will be premiering in competition at the 2014 Winterthur International Short Film Festival.

Cathy Yan is a filmmaker based in New York City, born in Mainland China and raised between Hong Kong and Washington, DC. She received her MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business and an MFA at the Tisch Graduate Film Program. Her directorial debut, the short film LAST NIGHT, premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival. Previously, she was a reporter for the Wall Street Journal in New York, Hong Kong and Beijing. Cathy graduated from Princeton University, magna cum laude, with a bachelor's degree in the Woodrow Wilson School of International and Public Affairs. She is currently developing a feature film in China.

Joseph Sacket is currently an MFA candidate in the NYU Graduate Film Production program. Before starting at NYU, Joseph worked as a videographer and producer in San Francisco and Los Angeles. He received his B.A. from NYU in English and American Literature and French.

James Ferguson grew up in Houston, Texas.  He received a BFA in Film, Video, New Media, and Animation from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011. There he was awarded the John Quincy Adams graduating fellowship, which he used to establish his artistic practice in New York. His portfolio of work includes Film, Photography, Painting, Illustration, Animation, and Video Installation. James currently lives and works in New York City, where he is a MFA candidate in the Graduate Film Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

Sheldon Chau was born and raised in Los Angeles, Sheldon grew up in a Cantonese family with parents who fled Vietnam during the Fall of Saigon. It was not until high school that his interest in films began developing - a path he owes to both his drama teacher and artist uncle. Inspired by his parents' tale of survival, Sheldon further delved into a career in visual storytelling in which he graduated UC Irvine with a Bachelor's degree in Film & Media Studies, and subsequently discovered his true passion in capturing images with a camera. After completing several personal films about his family, Sheldon is now currently pursuing an MFA at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He also really likes pineapple buns and pugs.

THE WORK YOU'RE SUPPORTING
Our next project: HOTEL ROOM
a performance and cinematic work and an allegory about climate change

How do our actions affect others in unforeseeable ways? How do we live in shared spaces? Set in an anonymous hotel suite, HOTEL ROOM is a story about connectivity and catalysts, exploring issues of depleting resources and overpopulation. The story intertwines three narrative threads about people who unknowingly co-inhabit a space.  Part choreographed fugue, part rhythmic narrative, this project will involve an installation, public performance, and will culminate in the making of a short film.
