Azure Family Concert: Excelsa Quartet
The Azure Family Concert features the Excelsa String Quartet and host pianist Stephen Prutsman. "The four young women who make up the the Excelsa Quartet bring the finest qualities of the new generation of musicians: extraordinarily high standards of virtuosity, deep seriousness of purpose, passion, energy and an infectious joy in sharing their music with anyone and everyone with a heart open to listen." (Benjamin Zander, Conductor, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra) Since many with autism (or related challenges) cannot attend traditional music performances due to uncontrollable vocalizations or physical movements, the St. Lawrence String Quartet and long-time collaborator pianist Stephen Prutsman, felt a real need to create a musical environment whereby not only are such behaviors not frowned upon, but accepted and embraced. Azure concerts are approximately one hour in length. Family members and caregivers of all ages are welcome to attend.
