The Guys
Each year Actors Art Theatre offers Actors Labs to it's collective of artists so they can explore the works of great authors, new and classic.  This year, we are pleased to delve into the gorgeous words of Anne Nelson.  "The Guys" was commissioned by The Flea in NYC and since it's debut has been performed by a roster of talented stars.

Jolene Adams directs Aaron Cash and herself in this beautiful play about Nick, a fire captain, who is finding it impossible to write the eulogies for the men he lost in 9/11.  Joan, an editor, volunteers to help him, and we watch this unlikely pair help each other through the trauma of the attacks through the gift of words, the beauty of craft and the relief of humor.

THE GUYS is based on a true story.

"a straight from-the-gut beautifully written two-hander...laughter is heard as often as sobs."
 Curtain Up

"The kind quiet hybrid that the situation and the times  an era of a million pithy sound bites, booming rhetoric, and the numbing repetition of the CNN loop that followed the attacks   seemed to demand  A small jewel of a play."                The Chicago Tribune

"Ms. Nelson play gives credible and powerful voice to a very specific kind of pain  perhaps the keenest message to emerge from THE GUYS is the assertion that writers  and actors  have a serious role to play in a grieving society."
 The New York Times

A courageous and riveting... play that tackles the horror of September 11th with an intimacy that both unsettling and healing."
The Christian Science Monitor

In the early 1990's, Twyla Tharp hand-picked Aaron to become her personal Pas de Deux partner and the legendary Mikhail Baryshnikov added Aaron to the Tharp, Baryshnikov world tour.

As a choreographer and performer he is highly sought after the world over. He also created MODS (Masters of Dance Seminar) held at the prestigious Pyramid at California State University, Long Beach and danced as a soloist in the role of the Matador for the Los Angeles Opera's production of La Traviata starring world-renowned soprano Rene Fleming.
