Bare! True Stories of Sex, Desire and Romance

Sunday, August 3, 8-10pm, $10

L'Etage, 624 South Sixth Street at Bainbridge, Philadelphia, PA 19147 (215) 592-0656

Bare! True Stories of Sex, Desire and Romance brings together storytellers, comedians, sex educators and others to share true tales from their own experiences of sex, desire and romance. With stories as diverse as the people telling them, Bare! opens doors to bedrooms, back seats and dungeons to tell what your mama left out about the birds, bees and in-betweens.

Join our ever-attune storytellers as they tell tales of miscues:

Hosted by Jefferson (One Life Take Two)

Gwen (Sex-Positive Story Slam)

Nikki Black (House of Black)

Mike Fenn (Comic)

Alanna Kennedy-Gorman (Writer)

. . . and you! Put your name in the hat for a chance to bare all on the Bare! stage.

Jefferson is the curator and host of Bare!, regularly in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. A sex educator and writer, Jefferson keeps a pseudonymous blog, One Life, Take Two, that details his life as a parent and pervert. He is a storyteller frequently seen on stages around New York and elsewhere, including The Moth, where he is a StorySlam winner. He is also host of Foreplay! A Sexy Storytelling Open Mic, biweekly in New York.

A Philadelphia native, Gwen started telling stories in Seattle, where she founded the Sex-Positive Story Slam and performed at the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival. Back in her hometown, she's shared stories at Bare! True Stories of Sex, Desire and Romance and The Erotic Literary Salon.

Nikki Black is a Philly-based comedian and reigning fan-fiction champion. She is best known locally for her "Ghost Boners" set and running the only steampunk comedy show in the city, House of Black, at the Adrienne theater. Her comedy goes beyond simple one-liners, foraying into personal anecdotes and blurring the lines between cute and morbid, absurdity and realism, poetry and stand-up. She has been featured all over the city, including at Helium Comedy Club and the Philly Improv Theater. She has performed in various comedy festivals, including the She-Devil Comedy Festival and the Women in Comedy Festival, and has opened for the likes of Mike Lawrence and Kevin McDonald. You can also catch her on the feminist comedy podcast Wait, Wut?

Mike Fenn is a storyteller, writer, zinester and aspiring stand-up comedian. He has written for online publications such as retro-daze.org, Geekadelphia, and the Daily Dot. He is well-liked among such celebrities as William Shatner, Tom Hanks, Sir Patrick Stewart, and Christopher Lloyd, all of whom have said "Nice to meet you" while shaking his hand. A self-professed geek, he has blogged for anime, comic book, video game, and Internet culture conventions up and down the East Coast. Send all comments, questions, pizza orders, and Paypal donations to mikefenn333@gmail.com or follow him on Twitter at @mikecovers.

Alanna Kennedy-Gorman is a writer, storyteller and crazy cat lady living in Collingswood, NJ. She performs in Philadelphia comedy and storytelling shows, including Second Stories, Comedy-Gasm and Toiling in Obscurity.
