Sonoma Premiere of Straightlaced

Please Note:

Due to an overwhelming response, Rialto Cinemas Lakeside has graciously opened an adjacent auditorium to accommodate an overflow soldout crowd. Both theaters will screen the film at 7:15 p.m. In spite of a second theater there are no $10 or $5.00 tickets remaining. The Rialto is no longer selling tickets at their box office.

There are very few $25 tickets for the reception and the film available on this website. The pre-screening reception begins at 6:00 p.m. This site will close down when those tickets are sold.

Please join us for a screening of Straightlaced - How Genders Got Us All Tied Up and fundraiser for GroundSpark, the lending library of the Sonoma County office of Education and Positive Images.

GroundSpark is a non-profit organization that creates visionary films and dynamic educational campaigns that move individuals and communities to take action for a more just world.

GroundSpark's newest film, Straightlaced - How Gender's Got Us All Tied Up is an uplifting and entertaining film, featuring high school youth speaking candidly about harmful pressures of rigid gender roles and homophobia. From girls who "dumb down" so they don't intimidate boys, to boys who are sexualy active to prove they aren't gay, to non-conforming teens who face relentless bullying, the students in Straightlaced show how gender expectations are having an unhealthy and often dangerous impact on today's youth.
