Resurrection of Serious Rogers Fri 6/13, 10:30 PM Screening - NYC Festival Premiere
A film by Angelo Bell
Stars: Cooper Harris, Jeff Torres, Mercedes Manning
From the filmmaker's notes about the film: "Resurrection of Serious Rogers" is The Usual Suspects meets The Professional -- a multi-layered neo noir thriller about an assassin who finds redemption in the eyes of a nanny; a drug addicted FBI agent out for justice, a military hero hungry for revenge and the mystery man who controls their fates.
About this film, by Breakthrough Festival NYC programmer Sujewa Ekanayake: While Resurrection of Serious Rogers will be seen and enjoyed as an indie thriller or an indie action thriller, I found it to be both an action comedy and, in its own way, an art film. Angelo Bell's film reminded me of Hal Hartley's crime action/comedy film Amateur and also Godard's breakthrough film Breathless. As in Breathless, Bell knows what elements need to go in this type of a thriller or action movie but the way he puts it together produces a unique and interesting film - not your typical thriller, action film, or action comedy. Either way, regardless of what it exactly is, it is a very interesting and enjoyable independent film. Also a film that needs to be seen on the big screen in order to fully experience and appreciate its creativity.
The Friday 6/13 screening of the film will be the first time that the film screens in New York City - Festival Premiere.
