Five Eight - Athens, GA
Five Eight is a four piece rock band from Athens, GA, though sometimes we were a three piece and sometimes as many as five people on-stage. It varies with the weather and people's medications. The band's roots go back many years, preceding the advent of Five-Eight by half a decade. The story begins in Hinman Dormitory on the campus of SUNY Binghamton in Upstate New York. The bottom floor of Hinman was populated by so many socially awkward and conversationally maladroit freshmen that the residents had been nicknamed "Jerry's Kids" by the rest of the student body. Mike Mantione (guitar, vocals) was ambling down the hallway one afternoon when he peeked into a room and saw Dan Horowitz (bass, banjo) sitting on his bed and improvising a half-remembered version of a Ramones song on a battered, atonal acoustic guitar with a pencil for a bridge. "This is the guy," Mantione apparently thought to himself, "that I want to play music with for thirty or so years."

Coyotes in Boxes - Nashville, TN
Steven Holland (vocals, bass), Kyle Baughman (drums, vocals), Sean Knisely (guitar, vocals) and Chris Miller (piano, organ) comprise an East Nashville indie-rock-folk four-piece originating from Huntington, West Virginia, scampering about on various musical adventures in local venues and city streets. The band self-recorded their debut full-length album "and Curtis and Fox" in an old theater amid a year of scattered travels, scouting out potential relocation destinations from Austin to Philadelphia before eventually settling on Nashville.
Valuing versatility of musical experience and the importance of community therein, the band embraces stripped-down acoustic street performances and house shows alike with amplified electric sets at traditional venues and festivals. "And Curtis and Fox" attempts a balance of these varied approaches, revealing both a tendency toward loud melodic rock and a penchant for organic acoustic singalongs. A new EP is in the works, with recording planned for May 2014.

Powerkompany - Athens, GA
Powerkompany is a cinematic pop project from Athens, GA. Their newest release, I Am More Than This is propelled by loping beats, bounding through cinematic vistas of a New South. The album's fragile, triumphant daydream pop and fanciful Catherine-wheel anthems illuminate man, woman and machine with acoustic serenity and cacophonous synths. Together Davon and bandmate Andrew Heaton are scientists, alchemists, creative escapists. Before they formed Powerkompany, they played with other notable Athens, Ga., bands: Davon, orchestra pop outfit Venice Is Sinking; and Heaton, full-tilt bluegrass project Packway Handle Band. Bridging the divergent worlds of indie rock and Americana, the two found each others' muses in full synch.
"Think Dolly Parton's frail warble filtered through Warhol's Factory. Their stage performance has been called "impressive" and "Lana Del Rey-esque...Marie's voice battles Andrew's violin at times."--The Red & Black
