Tacoma Singing Society in Concert
Tacoma Singing Society, under the direction of Megan Oberfield, will present an eclectic program of a cappella choral music including folksongs, shapenote tunes, spirituals, glees, chorales and songs in Swedish and Hungarian.
Tacoma Singing Society, now in its third season, is an auditioned choral ensemble founded by Megan Oberfield. The group rehearses weekly from January to June, as many members sing with Puget Sound Revels or other groups during the autumn months. We aspire to live up to our name, working to master the art of choral singing while thoroughly enjoying each other's company. Auditions are held each January. Megan Oberfield is a choral and bell choir director. She teaches choir and general music in Tacoma Public Schools and is the Music Director for Puget Sound Revels, where she orchestrates a variety of seasonal celebrations throughout the year, culminating in The Christmas Revels. Megan teaches private voice lessons and performs in various venues, as well as working as a clinician and composer/arranger. She is a graduate of Westminster Choir College where she studied Music Education and Voice, and holds a Master of Music Education, Kodály Emphasis, from Silver Lake College.
