Afternoon of Handel and Bach
Trinity Consort, based in Southend on Sea, will be performing 2 major choral works, Bach's Cantata Wachet Auf and Handel's Oratorio Dixit Dominus. Dixit Dominus was composed in 1707 during Handel's trip to Italy, it is considered his first significant church work and demonstrates the musical styles he encountered in Rome while laying groundwork for his later, more famous, English oratorios.
Trinity Consort is a chamber choir of talented choral singers based in Southend on Sea, Essex and Suffolk, and the group gives 2 - 3 concerts per year. The concert will feature soloists from within the choir, and will be accompanied by organist of Brentwood Cathedral, Stephen King. The concert will be conducted by Roger Humphrey.
