Roller Derby Boot Camp with Jet City

Our program is designed to train participants to safely engage in full contact roller derby gameplay. Curriculum is centered around the goal of joining Jet City's Cadet program and eventual draft to a league team. Completion of Boot Camp does not guarantee a space in the Cadet program or on a league team. In addition to skating practices, participants can learn about the rules and strategy of the sport by attending private scrimmages, volunteering as officials, and/or group discussions led by our experienced trainers.

Participants should exhibit proficiency in minimum skating skills prior to registering for this program, which include but are not limited to: crossovers, transitions, backwards skating, stopping, and falling safely. Skaters who do not consistently demonstrate safe and stable skating skills may be asked to enroll in our September 2025 Pilot Program instead.

We practice twice per week:
Sundays from 7-8:30am at the Lynnwood Bowl and Skate
Wednesdays from 8-10pm at the Northgate Community Center
*PLUS* Off skates attendance is optional at Tuesday night scrimmages at 8:30pm at the Lynnwood Bowl and Skate

Skaters will need to have WFTDA supplemental insurance in order to participate in contact drills. Insurance can be purchased at https://wftda.ps.membersuite.com/
Your insurance will be valid for 1 year. Email proof of coverage or any questions to newskater@jetcityrollerderby.com

You'll also need:
Helmet
Mouthguard
Wrist guard
Elbow pads
Kneepads
Quad roller skates

We recommend Get Your Bearing Skate Shop if you need equipment. We do have a small stock of loaner gear for skaters who need assistance accessing the required safety items. You must reach out to newskater@jetcityrollerderby.com prior to the first lesson in order to borrow gear.
