FELDENKRAIS FOR MUSICIANS More freedom in body, in technique, and in performance.
ADAPTABILITY: One of the most important skills a musician can develop is his or her ability to adapt to unexpected situations. How often do we feel that we've done everything in our power to prepare for a performance, an audition only to find ourselves thrown off by external circumstances? Not enough time to warm up, a difficult acoustic or a difficult colleague, stress, tension or new reactions in the body, something wrong with an instrument there are so many factors that come into play that can change the quality of our performance. The more we are able to adapt to the unexpected, the more likely we are to play at our best. One of the starting points for being more flexible is becoming aware of what we can rely on. How do we connect to our instrument? And how do we find more stability by connecting our hands, our arms, our breath more with our core? Through Feldenkrais movement lessons we will begin to explore these questions together.
The Feldenkrais Method was created by the scientist Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais. The group lessons are a means of becoming more aware, efficient, free, and capable in the use of one's body and one's movements. For musicians, the applications of this work are vast.
Workshops are led by Colin Pip Dixon: (professional violinist and internationally certified Felenkrais practitioner - Feldenkrais Guild of North America and EuroTab)
