George Bizet's Le Cabaret de Carmen a co-production with Ente Concerti
Jan 21, 22, 23, 2010 8pm Jan 24, 2010 5pm Baltimore Theatre Project 45 W. Preston Street, Baltimore MD 21202
Returning to Baltimore by popular demand, AOT's Le Cabaret de Carmen was hailed by the Baltimore Sun as Smashing!. It uses Peter Brook's infamous version of the opera, but the Baltimore Sun says it out-Brooked Brook. This dark, mesmerizing cabaret production of Bizet's classic opera thrilled and captivated audiences as they became part of the timeless tale of opera's most famous femme-fatale. Now its your chance to experience opera as never before. Step into the world of a 1920s Parisian night-club smoky, mysterious, and magical and let Carmen's sultry songs and forbidden passions waft you to another world. Now touring around the world, Le Cabaret de Carmen returns to the place is started for four nights only. A most unique experience not to be missed.

George Frederic Handel's Jephtha a co-production with Handel Choir of Baltimore
April 30th, May 1st, 2010 7:30pm First English Lutheran Church 3807 N. Charles Street, Baltimore MD 21218
As the second installment in its provocative and gripping Handel series which began with Messiah in 2007, and will culminate in 2010 with Giulio Cesare, AOT ends this season with the master's last great work. Jephtha explores the furthest reaches of human faith in an explosive score widely considered to be the summation of Handel's life. In his final days, forced to stop several times due to impeding blindness, Handel composed this ultimate testament to the mysterious relationship between God and man. American Opera Theater is proud to join with the Handel Choir of Baltimore, its own nationally acclaimed baroque orchestra Ignoti Dei, and a dynamic cast of soloists in this most powerful and human of Handel's compositions.
