Event
Beyond October 7
The evening will begin with a presentation by Professor Nada Elia, followed by a potluck dinner and discussiondiscussing.
Professor Elia teaches in the American Cultural Studies Programme at Western Washington University. She is the author of Greater Than the Sum of Our Parts: Feminism, Inter/Nationalism, and Palestine (2023), Trances, Dances, and Vociferations: Agency and Resistance in Africana Women's Narratives (2000), and has contributed chapters to numerous anthologies, including The Case for Sanctions Against Israel (Haymarket, 2020). A scholar-activist, she is intrigued by the potential of academics to resist and abolish institutionalized oppression from within "the brain of the monster." Nada is immediate past-president of AMEWS (the Association for Middle East Women's Studies). She served on the national steering collective of INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence from 2005 to 2009, and co-chaired INCITE's taskforce on anti-militarism and occupation.
