Winter Wilson at the Rocky Mountain Folk Club
Kip Winter and Dave Wilson have been writing songs and performing together for more than 20 years. Their concerts are intimate, their music is eclectic and their banter and chemistry on stage is legendary - they are married, after all. They hail from Lincolnshire in England and have performed in Germany, Australia, Spain, Canada, Belgium and New Zealand. They've released a string of critically acclaimed albums, one of the highlights being Live & Unconventional, the live album, recorded on tour and at Cropredy Festival with folk rock icons Fairport Convention.
This fine duo bring a sense of intimacy to every venue, blending superb, often hard-hitting original songs, stunning harmonies and musicianship with sometimes hilarious moments.
Kip (vocals, accordion, guitar, flute) "simply has a voice to die for ( John Roffey, Maverick Magazine), while Dave (vocals, guitar and banjo) is recognized as being amongst the top tier of British songwriters, with his songs sung in folk clubs across the UK and beyond. You will laugh; you may cry. You will certainly want to see them again!
We welcome them back for the second time to the Rocky as part of a Canadian tour which includes gigs in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. Do not miss this gem of a duo!
Opening the night is Calgary-based singer-songwriter Melody Stang.
Captivating audiences with a blend of ballads and heavy-hitting strums, Melody will pull at your heartstrings while you're stomping your feet. The honest and charming banter seamlessly woven between songs threads the needle between heartbreak and hilarity. Spinning life's stories into well-crafted lyrics, the songs are bound by catchy melodies and clever chords. While undoubtedly a "Singer, her downbeat is on "Songwriter" with musical idols like Joni Mitchell and Fleetwood Mac.
